Characterize(动词) ：是…的特征;以…为特征(典型); (英式英语的拼写为：characterise)

译文1：绵延起伏的丘陵地是英格兰这一地区的特征。

译文2：英格兰这一地区以绵延起伏的丘陵地为特征。

改写为被动语态：

This part of England is characterized by the rolling hills.

译文也和刚才是一样的。

We have worked hard to avoid the high youth unemployment that characterised previous recessions.

定语从句独立成句：

The high youth unemployment characterised previous recessions.

译文1：年轻人的高失业率是前几次衰退的特征。
